Philander Smith College's new two story campus center will provide full student services and administrative offices to serve the Philander Smith campus. The approximated 67,000 sq ft building will contain a recreation room, full-service bookstore, dining areas served by a full-service commercial kitchen, a Diner/Coffee Shop, and a Post Office. The 218 seat auditorium with tiered lecture-style seating will serve as a space for campus lectures and special presentations and is also designed to serve as a stand- alone storm shelter, meeting all FEMA requirements. Design details of this new facility include the two-story open-atrium main corridors with glass clearstories and a large ballroom with a motorized, vertical-folding acoustical partition to allow for the ballroom space to be divided into two separate areas.
