To take the educational environment of the new North Little Rock Elementary Schools to the next level, the project team engaged client stakeholders in a series of discovery exercises and explored opportunities. This investigation process began with virtual tours of school around the country, examination of alternative education methodologies and environments, and exploration of global trends relevant to students futures. The next step in the process included a pre-design charette that gave client stakeholders a chance to formulate memorable goals, guiding principles, barriers and a vision for the project. The information gathered at this charette is the backbone upon which all future design and curriculum decisions are based. The schematic design phase officially kicked off during a two day charette. During this charette client stakeholders and students were given the opportunity for input into the design and layout of the new school.
